The Denver Broncos are considering potential roster changes as the National Football League cutdown day approaches on Aug. 26, and one name being discussed is Shilo Sanders, the son of Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee Deion Sanders.

Shilo Sanders, who went undrafted in April, was later signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a free agent. His collegiate career began at South Carolina in 2019 before he transferred to Jackson State to play for his father during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. When Deion Sanders accepted a coaching position at Colorado in 2023, Shilo also moved to continue playing under him.

During his time with Colorado, Shilo Sanders recorded notable statistics in the 2024 season with 67 tackles, one sack, a forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries. Though not regarded as strong in man coverage, his tackling skills and physical style have been highlighted as assets that could benefit any defensive unit.

If released by the Buccaneers due to their current injury issues in the secondary, Shilo Sanders could be a depth option for Denver’s safety group or potentially contribute on special teams. He has experience both as a cornerback and playing in nickel packages.

There is no confirmation yet regarding whether Tampa Bay will release him ahead of cutdown day or if he might join another team’s practice squad should he become available.

Shilo’s recent playing history in Colorado has led observers to mention that joining the Broncos would allow him to remain close geographically.

No statements or quotations from Deion Sanders or team officials were included regarding this possibility.
