While Shilo Sanders faces uncertainty after being waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, his father Deion Sanders, a Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee known for his college football coaching and leadership with teams like the Colorado Buffaloes, expressed both support and a sense of relief regarding the situation.
Reflecting on his son’s recent NFL setback, Deion Sanders acknowledged the challenges Shilo has experienced. He stated, “This too shall pass. Yeah. Just to rock steady. It’s going to be all right. God got this…We’re Sanders. We’re going to have adversity…We’re going to go through trials and tribulations, but we always persevere. We always do.”
When asked by BuffTV’s Mark Johnson if he missed seeing Shilo or Shedeur during training camp when they played for the Colorado Buffaloes, Sanders responded candidly: “Not whatsoever. So you’re going to miss them because you’re their dad, and that’s the only life you’ve ever known, right? But it’s a pleasure not to have to worry about him.”
Shilo Sanders signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a free agent after going undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft at age 25. His time with the team was brief; he was released after being ejected from a preseason game following an altercation with Buffalo Bills tight end Zach Davidson. Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles called the conduct “inexcusable,” which led to Shilo’s release from the team.
Despite this development, Deion Sanders remains hopeful about his son’s future in football and beyond. He said, “We’re praying that he gets another opportunity to go with a team. But if he doesn’t, the plans have already been put forward to what he’s going to do next. Shilo’s a man of many talents… he’s gonna be straight. All the Sanders are gonna be straight, with or without football.”
As Shilo navigates this period in his professional career, his father’s continued support highlights both family resilience and optimism about opportunities ahead.
