Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn has shared advice given by Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman to Commanders’ quarterback Jayden Daniels. The guidance comes as Daniels prepares for the upcoming 2025 NFL season, following a period of intense training camp.
Quinn highlighted Aikman’s advice, which he described as invaluable, particularly for the 24-year-old quarterback who is highly regarded by analysts. Reflecting on his own rookie experience with the Dallas Cowboys under coach Jimmy Johnson, Aikman had once said: “You be a great teammate and play good quarterback. I’ll take care of all the discipline, all the other stuff.”
This message resonated with Quinn, who passed it on to Daniels after an incident involving a false start during practice. Quinn told Daniels not to worry about minor details but to focus on being a strong teammate and excelling at playing quarterback. “So much can be put on kids: ‘Lead more, lead more.’ Right now, I want you to build your relationship with your teammates, who are learning you, and play quarterback,” Quinn explained.
Troy Aikman was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006. He led the Dallas Cowboys to three Super Bowl victories in the 1990s and was named MVP of Super Bowl XXVII.
