Dan Marino, a legendary quarterback known for his precision passing, remains one of the greatest players never to win a Super Bowl. Retiring after the 1999 season, Marino held records as the NFL’s all-time leader in passing yards (61,361) and touchdowns (420). He was the first to surpass 50,000 yards and 400 touchdowns in a career and still ranks in the top ten for both categories.
Marino was selected as an All-Pro six times and participated in nine Pro Bowls. He made history by being the first player to throw for 5,000 yards in a single season. During his MVP year in 1984, he set NFL records with 5,084 passing yards and 49 touchdowns—records that stood for over twenty years. Marino led the league in passing yards five times, passing yards per game four times, and passing touchdowns three times.
Despite his achievements, Marino played in only one Super Bowl. The Miami Dolphins were defeated by the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XIX during the 1984 season.
