The Coppell Cowboys will open their 2025 Texas high school football season with a non-conference game against the Sachse Mustangs on Friday, Aug. 29, at Garland HBJ Stadium in Garland, Texas. Both teams enter the matchup with no wins or losses, making this game important for building early momentum.

Coppell begins its season ranked No. 184 nationally and No. 25 in Texas. The Cowboys aim to blend experienced upperclassmen with younger talent while relying on defensive discipline and offensive tempo to secure an away victory. According to sources familiar with the program, controlling field position through special teams and keeping steady pressure on Sachse’s quarterback are considered keys to winning.

Key players for Coppell include quarterback Caleb Johnson, running back Michael Turner, wide receiver Ethan Collins, wide receiver/cornerback Jordan Matthews, lineman Jacob Ramirez (offense/defense), tight end/linebacker Ryan Brooks, defensive back Jaden Carter, linebacker Alex Parker, defensive lineman Noah Henderson and wide receiver Tyler Scott.

Sachse starts its campaign ranked No. 1,029 in the country and No. 156 in Texas. Despite these numbers, the Mustangs hope that home-field advantage and determined play will be factors in their performance against Coppell. Observers note that maximizing possessions while limiting turnovers is critical for Sachse as they look to establish a strong running game and produce explosive plays.

Notable team members from Sachse include quarterback Xavier Williams; running back Isaiah Brown; wide receivers Marcus Hill (also cornerback) and Cameron Lewis; linemen Daniel Wright (offense/defense); linebacker Jeremiah Green; defensive back Tyler Evans; running back/wide receiver Andre Johnson; tight end/linebacker Christian Harris; and defensive lineman Malik Thompson.

Live coverage of the matchup will be available through live scores on MaxPreps and digital tickets can be purchased via GoFan. Fans may also stream the game using NFHS Network by subscription.

The rankings show Coppell entering at No. 184 nationally with a state ranking of No. 25 while Sachse is placed at No. 1,029 nationally and No. 156 within Texas.
