Part III of the 2025 Dynasty Countdown highlights teams that had brief but notable success in the NFL. The focus is on those who managed to win a title during a short period of competitiveness, even if they didn’t sustain long-term dominance.

Among these teams are the early Drew Brees Saints, Joe Flacco’s Ravens, Bill Cowher’s Steelers, and the Rams’ Greatest Show on Turf. These teams were formidable opponents during their peak years, each achieving enough to be remembered beyond just a single successful season.

One such team is the 1958-1959 Baltimore Colts. Despite their dynasty lasting only two seasons, they secured back-to-back championships and achieved 10 dynasty points. Their success was marked by winning the 1958 NFL Championship Game against the Giants, often referred to as “the Greatest Game Ever Played.” This game was significant not only for its thrilling nature but also for being nationally televised on NBC, reaching over 45 million viewers and sparking increased interest in televised football.

The Colts’ performance declined after their championship wins due to injuries and other challenges. Head Coach Weeb Ewbank was unable to maintain their earlier success and was eventually replaced after the 1962 season. Historians often consider this period part of the broader Johnny Unitas era, though it is distinct from later successes under coach Don Shula.
