New Colorado Buffaloes wide receiver Sincere Brown expressed confidence as he prepares for his first season in Boulder. In comments to the media, Brown said he compares his playing style to Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee Randy Moss, citing both height and ability to win contested passes. Brown stands 6 feet 5 inches tall, an inch taller than Moss.
“I feel like I’m Randy Moss,” Brown said, according to Yahoo Sports’ Nikki Edwards.
Moss, after a standout college career at Marshall University, went on to play 14 seasons in the National Football League. He recorded 15,292 receiving yards and 156 touchdowns, earning much of his success with the Minnesota Vikings and New England Patriots. His highlight season came in 2007 with a record 23 touchdown receptions from quarterback Tom Brady.
Brown transferred to Colorado in April following stints at South Florida and Campbell University. Last fall at Campbell, he posted 1,028 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns before entering the transfer portal. The increased attention led to multiple Power Four conference offers; Brown ultimately chose Colorado.
When asked about this decision, Brown attributed it in part to watching former South Florida teammates Xavier Weaver and Jimmy Horn Jr., who ended their careers at Colorado. He also noted that being able to learn from coach Deion Sanders and other staff members enshrined in Canton factored into his choice.
“WR Sincere Brown on coming to Colorado: (…) ‘A year ago, Colorado was my favorite team … I was watching their games and content.'”—DNVR Buffs
“As I entered the transfer portal and was making a decision, I was talking to them (Horn and Weaver) throughout the process,” Brown said per DNVR Buffs. “Last year, I was watching their games, I was watching the content that they was having out.”
Weaver is now with the Arizona Cardinals while Horn plays for the Carolina Panthers.
Brown spoke highly of Colorado’s coaching staff composition: “The Hall of Fame coaching staff is unbelievable (…) I’ve never seen a bunch of gold jackets in one (coaching staff). That’s unbelievable. That was a huge decision on my coming to Colorado.”
This season Brown will work with wide receivers coach Jason Phillips. “He’s learning what the expectation of being here is,” Phillips said about Brown per Brian Howell of BuffZone. “He’s continuing to mature in that area and right now, so far, so good. If he continues to do that and eliminate some of the mental mistakes, I think we’ll be pleased with what we have in Sincere.”
Brown is scheduled to make his debut for Colorado on Aug. 29 against Georgia Tech.
