Colorado adds branded sideline bathroom for Deion Sanders after cancer recovery

Colorado has made a change to its football sideline setup, adding a branded bathroom for head coach Deion Sanders during the season opener against Georgia Tech at Folsom Field in Boulder. The move comes after Sanders underwent surgery earlier this year to remove his bladder following a cancer diagnosis.

The portable privacy tent is positioned next to the Buffaloes’ bench, allowing Sanders quick access when needed. Depend undergarment sponsored the feature for Friday night’s game.

Earlier this month, Sanders addressed his health situation on social media and mentioned using Depend products. He stated: “I wasn’t joking! I truly DEPEND on Depend. Ain’t NO SHAME in taking care of yourself. NO SHAME in getting health screenings. And there certainly ain’t NO SHAME in needing added protection or using Depend to stay in the game. That’s not weakness — that’s WINNING.” In response, Depend wrote: “No shame at all! We’re proud to help you stay in the game, Coach Prime.”

Sanders missed time with the team during the summer while undergoing treatment for bladder cancer. His doctor reported last month that he was cured. Part of Sanders’ intestine was reconstructed to act as a new bladder.

This season marks Sanders’ third as Colorado’s head coach but will be his first without sons Shedeur and Shilo on the roster. Last year, the Buffaloes finished with nine wins and four losses.

The meeting against Georgia Tech is notable as it is the first between these two programs, which split the national title after the 1990 season. Colorado will also pay tribute to former head coach Bill McCartney, who died in January at age eighty-four; players will wear a patch on their uniforms in his honor.
