Cincinnati Bearcats guard Jizzle James, son of former Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee Edgerrin James, has been dismissed from the basketball team and is not currently a member of the school’s basketball program. The announcement was made by coach Wes Miller in a statement on Tuesday.
“Jizzle James has been dealing with personal issues throughout the summer,” Miller said in a statement. “We removed him from the team last month. He is currently not a member of our basketball program. As this is a personal matter, I will have no further comment at this time.”
James finished as Cincinnati’s leading scorer during the 2024-25 season, starting in 35 games and averaging 12.7 points, 3.5 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game. In the previous season, he primarily played off the bench and averaged 8.8 points over 19.3 minutes per game.
The Bearcats completed their 2024-25 campaign with a record of 19-16 under Miller’s leadership. Despite winning 22 games in their first year as members of the Big 12 Conference, they did not secure an NCAA Tournament berth for a sixth straight year since their last appearance in 2019 under then-coach Mick Cronin.
During the recent transfer portal period, Cincinnati added players including Baba Miller from Florida Atlantic University and Moustapha Thiam from University of Central Florida to its roster.
