The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing for their final preseason game of 2025, which will be played against the Chicago Bears on Friday. Head coach Andy Reid confirmed that he plans to have his starting players on the field for this last preseason matchup. This approach is a shift from last week’s contest against the Seattle Seahawks, when most starters did not play and the Chiefs lost 33-16.

Reid addressed questions about how much playing time his first-string players would receive in the upcoming game. “I’m just going to play it by ear, they’re going to start, they’re going to start it off, and then we’ll see how it goes from there,” Reid said.

In recent years, many teams across the National Football League have chosen to rest their top players in preseason games due to concerns about possible injuries. However, some coaches continue to use these games as an opportunity to provide live-action reps for their starters ahead of Week 1.

The Chiefs enter this season following a significant loss in last year’s Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles. The team had been seeking its third straight Vince Lombardi Trophy after earning three championships over five seasons, leading many analysts to refer to them as a dynasty.

This offseason has presented new challenges for Kansas City. Wide receiver Rashee Rice faces an expected suspension by the league. Additionally, wide receiver Marquise Brown and backup running back Kareem Hunt are dealing with injuries.

Despite these hurdles, expectations remain high due in large part to quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs aim to regroup and compete strongly once the regular season starts.
