The latest top-10 quarterback rankings from NFL insiders have sparked debate among fans and analysts. The list, which places the defending Super Bowl champion ninth and includes a rookie in the top five, has not been well received by the public.

Former Cincinnati Bengal Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson expressed his views on the Nightcap podcast, co-hosted with NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe. Johnson agreed that Patrick Mahomes deserves to be ranked as the best quarterback but noted that positions two through four are interchangeable based on preference. “Personally, I’m putting Burrow second,” Johnson said. “After Joe Burrow, I’m going with Lamar Jackson.”

Johnson also questioned why C.J. Stroud was absent from the list and criticized Jalen Hurts’ low ranking. “How do we have the Super Bowl winning quarterback not in the top five? What are these execs looking at?” he asked.

Sharpe voiced skepticism about Justin Herbert’s seventh-place ranking due to his lack of playoff success. “He can make all the throws, we’re not denying that, but are we sure?” Sharpe said. Johnson defended Herbert’s potential but acknowledged he needs more than two playoff appearances to prove himself.

The rankings have drawn criticism for excluding Stroud and questioning Jackson’s place among the top three quarterbacks. Additionally, some find it controversial that a rookie is rated higher than experienced players like Matthew Stafford.

Shannon Sharpe is known for his impressive 14-season career as a Hall of Fame tight end, amassing 10,060 receiving yards and 815 receptions. He is also remembered for catching a record-setting 96-yard touchdown pass in the 2000 AFC Championship Game.
