Steve Hutchinson was born on November 1, 1977, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He played high school football at Coral Springs High. He graduated in 1996. He then went to the University of Michigan. He joined the Wolverines in 1996. He moved to offensive guard that same year. He earned a starting spot in 1997. He won a national championship with Michigan in 1997. He captained the team as a senior. He earned unanimous All-American honors in 2000. He entered the 2001 NFL Draft. The Seattle Seahawks selected him in the first round. He started his pro career in Seattle. He blocked for Shaun Alexander in 2005. He went to Super Bowl XL with the Seahawks. He left Seattle in 2006. He signed with the Minnesota Vikings. He played there from 2006 to 2011. He then joined the Tennessee Titans in 2012. He retired in March 2013. He was a seven-time Pro Bowl selection. He made the NFL’s 2000s All-Decade Team. He earned five first-team All-Pro honors. He started 169 games over 12 seasons. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2020.
