Otto Graham, a legendary figure in Cleveland Browns history, has been recognized by CBS Sports as one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. Bryan DeArdo from CBS Sports ranked Graham at number 12 on his list of the top 30 quarterbacks of all time. DeArdo noted, “Graham accomplished a lot during his career, with winning being at the forefront of his accomplishments.”
Graham’s career spanned from 1946 to 1955, during which he led the Browns to ten consecutive championship games and secured seven titles. His success included three NFL championships and four All-America Football Conference titles. Known for his impressive winning record, Graham won 81.3% of his starts, a statistic unmatched by any quarterback with at least 1,500 pass attempts.
Playing under coach Paul Brown, Graham was instrumental in mastering the T-formation offense and earned the nickname “Automatic Otto.” His career achievements include three MVP awards, five Pro Bowl selections, and seven All-Pro honors. The Browns retired his jersey number 14 in 1965, the same year he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
DeArdo emphasized that Graham’s excellence transcends eras and remains influential across generations.
