University of Miami quarterback Carson Beck has been named to the 2025 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Watch List. The announcement was made by the Golden Arm Educational Foundation and A.O. Smith Corporation on Tuesday.
The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award recognizes college quarterbacks for their performance on the field as well as character, leadership, and academic achievement. Beck is one of 58 quarterbacks from across the country included on this year’s list.
Beck joins the Hurricanes after a five-year career at Georgia, where he had a record of 24-3 as a starting quarterback. Over his time in Athens, he threw for 7,912 yards and 58 touchdowns. In 2023, Beck led Georgia to a 13-1 season with 3,941 passing yards, 24 touchdowns, six interceptions, and completed 72.4 percent of his passes. In his final season at Georgia, he threw for 3,485 yards and 28 touchdowns while guiding the Bulldogs to an SEC Championship and a place in the College Football Playoff.
Beck has also been named to watch lists for the Walter Camp Player of the Year and Maxwell Award ahead of his first season at Miami. He was rated No. 1 overall transfer prospect by 247Sports.
The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award is now in its thirty-ninth year. As the college football season progresses, semifinalists and finalists will be selected before a winner is honored in December in Baltimore.
Other preseason honorees from Miami include Rueben Bain Jr., OJ Frederique Jr., Anez Cooper, Francis Mauigoa, Wesley Bissainthe, James Brockermeyer, Keelan Marion among others named to various national watch lists.
