Miami quarterback Carson Beck has been named to the 2025 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award preseason watch list. The Golden Arm Educational Foundation recognized him as one of 58 quarterbacks nationally on the list.
The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, in its thirty-ninth year, honors the nation’s top senior or upperclassman quarterback who is on track to graduate. Semifinalists and finalists will be announced during the season, with the winner to be honored in December in Baltimore. The Atlantic Coast Conference led all conferences with thirteen quarterbacks featured on this year’s watch list.
Beck transferred to Miami from Georgia after enrolling in January. As Georgia’s starting quarterback, he compiled a record of twenty-four wins and three losses, surpassing 7,900 career passing yards. In 2023, he threw for 3,941 yards with twenty-four touchdowns and six interceptions; in 2024, he added another 3,485 yards and twenty-eight touchdowns.
This latest recognition continues Beck’s streak of preseason accolades. He has already appeared on the Maxwell Award and Walter Camp Player of the Year watch lists. He is ranked as the No. 1 overall transfer in the 2025 cycle.
Last year, many NFL Draft analysts projected Beck as a potential No. 1 overall pick or first-round selection for the upcoming draft. This season gives him an opportunity to prove those predictions accurate.
Alongside Beck, several Miami players earned spots on various 2025 preseason watch lists:
