Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon stated Thursday that the team’s starters, including quarterback Kyler Murray and wide receiver Marvin Harrison, will sit out Saturday’s preseason finale against the Las Vegas Raiders. This decision follows a similar approach taken during Arizona’s second exhibition game against the Denver Broncos.
Murray and the starting offense were on the field for the first two possessions in the Cardinals’ preseason opener versus Kansas City on Aug. 9. Since then, Gannon appears confident with their progress during practice sessions as preparations continue for Week 1 of the regular season.
One focus during training camp has been Murray’s developing connection with Harrison, now entering his second year as a wideout. This development is notable since Arizona did not make significant changes to its skill-position players from last season.
Murray and Harrison are expected to take the field together again when Arizona opens its regular season against New Orleans on Sunday, Sept. 7.
