Joseph Pace, a safety from Campbell University, is aiming for the 2026 National Football League Draft. In an interview, he discussed his skills and background, highlighting what makes him a prospect to watch.
Pace listed several attributes that he believes set him apart at his position: do alley run safety, cover safety in the slot, run fit, communication on the field, range, and eye discipline with good feet and technique. He also addressed qualities he wants NFL teams to know about him: “Character is great on the field and off the field (Student of the game / High IQ level as a defensive player / Team leader / wants to be dominant on special teams / God first / Head down working hard daily / Take care of body / In the community),” said Pace.
Regarding charitable interests, Pace said, “Donate to the kids and family’s in need back home where I’m from and people in the area where I attended college (Also kids with any cancer or heart health issues).” When asked about role models growing up, Pace noted both his mother and Hall of Famer Ray Lewis: “My mother growing up she was always god first and hard working (Athlete wise – Ray Lewis).”
He named Seattle Seahawks and Pittsburgh Steelers as his favorite professional football teams. For most underrated teammate at Campbell University, Pace mentioned Randal King.
Discussing adversity in his life, Pace stated: “I believe that adversity causes some men to build and others to break but it comes on any journey in life , it can build character by overcoming a situation you thought you weren’t able to come out of ! I had to overcome come not being offered by any division 1 schools out of high school and only playing 1 year in high school Because of moving issues back home , but God change things now I’m living what I prayed for!”
He earned a bachelor’s degree in arts & sciences with a focus on criminal justice.
When asked who he would choose for dinner among people living or deceased, Pace responded: “Grandpa because he always gave me great keys in life and passed away when I was younger (Uncle big Damion passed away & would love to have dinner with him because he put a football in my hands and made me eager to play ! (…) Ray Lewis because I like his words of wisdom and his mindset in life and in football).”
His biggest weakness is “Putting other people before me because of my heart for people.”
Pace’s favorite teacher was Mr. Dod from high school English class. His favorite snack food is Gushers. If he could have any franchise restaurant at home it would be Chipotle/Mexican Grill.
