Reports indicate that a bullet was fired into the office of Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid at the team’s practice facility last spring while he was present, according to the Kansas City Star. The report states Reid was working alone in his office in early May 2024 when a bullet fired from outside broke through the glass window and blinds before lodging in a wall between his bathroom and entry door. Bulletproof glass was installed soon after.
The Kansas City Star noted that two additional bullets struck other parts of the facility: one hit the third floor, and another struck an outdoor air-conditioning unit. Few within the organization were reportedly aware of the incident. When contacted, a Chiefs spokesman declined to comment on Wednesday night.
The event occurred several months after Reid guided the Chiefs to a Super Bowl championship repeat, securing their third title in five years. In the most recent season, Kansas City again won the AFC but lost to Philadelphia in the Super Bowl.
Reid has compiled a record of 273-146-1 over 12 seasons with the Chiefs and 14 with the Eagles. He is currently fourth on the National Football League’s all-time wins list, following Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee Don Shula, George Halas and Bill Belichick.
