A bullet struck the office of Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid at the team’s practice facility in early May 2024 while he was inside, according to a report by the Kansas City Star. The report cited multiple sources who said that Reid was working alone in his office when a bullet fired from outside penetrated the window and blinds, leaving a hole before lodging in a wall between his bathroom and the entry door. Following the incident, the team installed bulletproof glass.
The Kansas City Star also reported that two additional bullets hit other parts of the facility—one struck the third floor and another an outdoor air-conditioning unit. According to their sources, few people within the organization were aware of what happened.
A spokesperson for the Chiefs declined to comment on Wednesday night when contacted by the Associated Press.
This incident occurred months after Reid coached the Chiefs to their second consecutive Super Bowl championship and third title in five years. The team also won another AFC title last season but lost to Philadelphia.
Reid has accumulated a record of 273-146-1 over 12 seasons with Kansas City and 14 seasons with Philadelphia. He ranks fourth on the National Football League’s all-time wins list behind Don Shula, George Halas, and Bill Belichick.
