Deion Sanders faces a challenging 2025 college football season as he leads the Colorado Buffaloes without key players Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, who have moved on to the NFL. Despite the absence of major five-star recruits, Bruce Feldman, a national college football insider for The Athletic, remains optimistic about Sanders’ impact on the team.
Feldman praised Sanders for transforming the Buffaloes from a one-win team into a notable program within two years. “They were horrible when he took over,” Feldman said. He highlighted Sanders’ leadership qualities, stating, “First of all, you probably have the most charismatic leader that we’ve ever seen in college football.”
Feldman noted that some critics do not understand Sanders’ unconventional approach. “I just think he’s different and I think, for a lot of people, they don’t know what to make of different, so they scoff at it,” he explained.
Currently, oddsmakers predict Colorado’s win total at 6.5 wins for the upcoming season. However, sportsbooks anticipate a decline due to the loss of Hunter and Shedeur Sanders. Meanwhile, public confidence in Sanders remains strong.
To ensure success this season, Feldman suggests that Colorado must enhance its recruiting efforts. Although recent headlines focus on missed opportunities with five-star recruits, Feldman believes in Sanders’ ability to attract talent. He recalled how Sanders persuaded Hunter to switch his commitment from FSU to Jackson State.
Sanders’ reputation as an NFL Hall of Famer is well-known. During his 14-season career as a cornerback and return specialist, he scored 22 touchdowns and became one of only two players in NFL history to score touchdowns six different ways.
