Aaron Rodgers, the Super Bowl XLV champion, has signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers for his 21st NFL season. Known for his long tenure with the Green Bay Packers as Brett Favre’s backup, Rodgers’ career took a turn when Favre announced he was not retiring in 2008.
Actor Brian Baumgartner from “The Office” shared an unexpected encounter with Rodgers during this pivotal moment. On “The Rich Eisen Show,” Baumgartner recounted meeting Rodgers at a blackjack table in Lake Tahoe on the day Favre declared he would continue playing. “We were sitting next to each other… and I don’t know who he is,” Baumgartner said. “He was a fan of The Office and we just started a relationship there.”
Favre eventually returned from retirement and was traded to the New York Jets, leaving Rodgers to lead the Packers, who ended the 2008 season with a 6-10 record.
Rodgers’ interest in golf is well-known. He won the net portion of the 2023 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am alongside PGA Tour pro Ben Silverman. Baumgartner and Rodgers have been seen together at various events, including after-parties and award shows. Eisen even showed a picture of them from the Emmy Awards during his show.
