During the ceremony held in Canton, Ohio, Allen joined the ranks of football’s greatest players who have earned this prestigious honor. His professional career began in 1982 when he was selected by the Los Angeles Raiders in the first round of the NFL Draft.
Over his 16-year career, Allen became known for his exceptional skills as a running back, completing remarkable feats on the field. He is recognized as the Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl XVIII and a one-time Super Bowl champion.
Allen amassed over 12,000 rushing yards and became the first player in league history to rush for over 10,000 yards and record more than 5,000 receiving yards, setting a new standard for dual-threat backs. His enshrinement not only celebrated his accomplishments but also highlighted his lasting impact on the game, inspiring future generations of athletes.
Allen won the Heisman in 1981 playing for the USC Trojans.
