With the Arizona Cardinals scheduled to open their 2025 season against the New Orleans Saints on Sept. 7, attention has turned to the players who have worn No. 18 throughout the team’s history. This year, second-year wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. is expected to take on a prominent role wearing the number.

No. 18 has been worn by several notable Cardinals players over the decades, including BJ Ojulari in 2023 and A.J. Green from 2001 to 2022. Other players include Kerry Taylor (2013), Stephen Williams (2011), Max Komar (2010), Reggie Newhouse (2005), Jake Soliday (2002), Kevin Knox (1994), Cliff Stoudt (1986-1988), Carl Birdsong (1981-1985), Mark Manges (1978), Sergio Albert (1974), Fred Wallner (1951), George Petrovich (1949-1950), Don Currivan (1943), Charlie Gainor (1939), Al Babartsky and Lee Mulleneaux (1938), Ham Harmon (1937), Bernie Hughes (1934-1936), Hal Moe (1933), Tony Holm and Elmer Schwartz (1932), Walt Keisling (1930), Louis Larson (1929), Bill Springsteen (1928), Walt Ellis (1926-1927), Roger Kiley (1923), Willis Brennan (1922) and Bob Koehler in 1921.

Walt Keisling, who wore No. 18 in 1930, has since become a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, making him one of the most distinguished former wearers of that number for the franchise.

There is optimism among fans that Harrison can make his own mark with No. 18 as he continues his career with the Cardinals.

The team also highlighted an interesting historical note: Lee Mulleneaux, who wore No. 18 in 1938, was from Safford in Southern Arizona and played alongside his brother Carl in the National Football League.
