The Texas Longhorns are considered one of the main contenders for the national championship ahead of the 2025 season, with Arch Manning drawing significant attention as a leading player. Manning’s prominence in college football is due both to his family ties—his uncles are Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee Peyton Manning and Eli Manning—and his own abilities.
As speculation grows about whether Manning might enter the 2026 National Football League Draft, recent comments by his grandfather, Archie Manning, have drawn notice. Archie said, “Arch isn’t going to do that (…) He’ll be at Texas.”
However, Arch has now addressed these remarks from his grandfather and offered clarification. Manning stated, “Yeah, I don’t know where he got that from (…) He text me and apologized about that. I’m really just taking it day by day right now.”
Manning’s position is that he wants to keep all options available as the new season approaches. If he delivers a strong performance in 2025 and positions himself as a top draft prospect, entering the National Football League could become a real possibility for him.
In his previous season with Texas, Manning completed 67.8 percent of his passes for 939 yards, nine touchdowns, and two interceptions; he also rushed for 108 yards and scored four rushing touchdowns. That experience is expected to be valuable as he prepares to take on full-time starter duties this year.
At present, Manning has not ruled out entering the National Football League following this upcoming season but emphasized that any decision will depend on how things progress during 2025.
