49ers General Manager John Lynch has provided an update on wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk’s recovery process. According to Lynch, there is currently no set timetable for Aiyuk’s return. “There’s just steps you have to continue to hit, and I’ll continue to say that Brandon is doing well in his rehab,” Lynch said, as reported by David Bonilla of 49erswebzone.com. He added, “Do we have an exact date right now? No. I don’t think it will be Week 1, but hopefully, I’m surprised. We’ll see. Continuing to try to watch him work his way through this rehab. But again, we want him fully healthy. He had a significant injury, and so, you have to do a significant rehab, and he’s doing a really good job of that, and we’ve got to continue to do so.”
Lynch is recognized for his illustrious career as a safety in the NFL, where he played 224 games and was selected for the Pro Bowl nine times over 15 seasons. His hard-hitting style was highlighted during the 2002 NFC Championship Game when he made a pivotal interception that contributed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Super Bowl XXXVII victory.
